Matthew's watercolors and drawings have been included in invitational exhibitions at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The American Academy of Arts and Letters, and The National Academy of Design. He has had numerous solo exhibitions at galleries and museums throughout the United States.

He is the author of A CHARMED VISION: THE ART OF CAROLYN PLOCHMANN, as well as many articles in nationally distributed art magazines. His debut novel, LEAVING EASTERN PARKWAY, was published by Delphinium Books in 2022.

Matthew has received fellowships from The Pollack - Krasner Foundation and The Illinois Arts Council, and a major commission for The Four Seasons Hotel in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

One of his watercolors was published in The Metropolitan Museum’s 1991 Art Calendar, “American Watercolors.”
